The Rich and Complex Meaning of The Infinity Symbol

Sometimes the simplest symbols are the symbols with the most meaning! The infinity sign, or figure eight design, "8" is just such a symbol.
With it's fluid lines, this shape contains a wealth of complex meaning.

As a mathematical symbol, the infinity sign was first "discovered" way back in 1655, but its significance as a religious symbol is even older!
The infinity sign has its origins in the Arabic numerals that actually came from India many centuries ago.
The sign can be drawn in one continuous seesaw movement of clockwise and counterclockwise loops. These loops reflect the balance of opposites; male and female, day and night, dark and light.

Because the circles sit side by side, the sign implies equality between opposing forces, with the connecting point in the center the convergent point. The symbol epitomizes the idea of sexual union and of "two becoming one."

The infinity symbol stands for wholeness and completion, making it a wonderful symbol for jewelry gift giving. A gift of this nature implies your belief that you and your partner are bound together in unison and harmony, and that although you are two separate people, you are joined together as one!
